Mar. 4th, 2012 10:41 pmKnowing when to fight and when to give up had never been an easy decision for Johnny, and sometimes, in his past, he had definitely not made the right choices. One of those had recently come back to haunt him. Ray Stark, owner and ceo of the world infamous Stark electroni9cs, was an old friend of Johnny's, and unfortunately, always was the kind of guy who tried to help johnny back. Resurfacing in Johnny's life recently, he had managed to try to hook Johnny up, and when Johnny had told him about his new woman, this had made Ray mad. He hadn't heard about it, and now he wanted to know why.
Of course the truth wouldn't work,. ray was Johnny's past, one he had been trying to put behind him for years. Ray was from when johnny wasn't Johnny, but Lord John Raston the fifth, son of English royalty, and rapscallion child of a high British parliamentary family. It was a life that Johnny had left when he realized that everyone he knew was corrupt, from his father ot his friends, including Ray. On his way out,l he had saved the lives of Ray, his wife, and his child, and he had not regretted it, but wished he had found a way to do it anonymously ever since.
And ray's being around had drawn attention to Johnny that he had not wanted to have drawn. Attention he disliked intensely. Attention from his family. A single black card, no return address, was in his hands. A card labeled with a simple message.
"Hello, Son. I'll be seeing you."
This was going to be trouble.
With a growl, he dropped the card on the table, and grabbed his Scotch, hoping that he could shake this mood.A mood filled with so many contradictory emotions that he didn't even know what to feel. Paulie deserved better.
